On filters and flush water color changes...

Here is an interesting email posted by a resident under the subject line - [Flush Water color change Co-incidental or the fact (Myth Busted)]

I have problem in the common toilet flush, the water doesn't fill up soon, it takes mins (>10) to fill it up.
I have the complaint and the plumber came and checked, resolved the issue.
When i inquired about the issue, he replied, the filters are blocked dues to bad water quality.
he cleaned the filters are all good for couple of weeks.

Then friday it was the same issue, and the same plumber came on saturday.
This time he finished the job in few mins and no cleaning done.
But the issue resolved, when i inquired he said i have removed the filters and you will not have any problem.

Yes, the problem is resolved but when i asked if you remove the filter won't the dirt come into the pot.
for which he replied, this is the same in most of the flats, you will not find this issue anymore.
Most of the flats are with out filters.

In fact, i learnt that there will be two filters and he spared one for me, but most of the flats do not have both the filters.

But, since yesterday(Sunday) the water color is black, and worst of kind.
looks like directly coming from gutter.

Now, the problem of bad water quality in flush tanks is because of the removal of filters or
it is due to the bad treatment of the water.

Maintenance Team, kindly confirm.

@all, do you remember this kind of issue and then you started getting bad quality water ?

Thanks,

Future owners beware

Listed below is an email about Cauvery water connections. Notice that water connection applications for two fully occupied blocks have not been made yet and its the same story with upcoming blocks. So if you have bought into the new blocks or are thinking of buying, please be aware of the reality.

Dear Mr [removed].

Further to my mail dated 17/18 -3-2015 ,I wish to bring to your notice the following facts:

It is learnt that application for cauvery water for SALARPURIA GREENAGE has been  made only for Alpine and Birch blocks. No application has been made for other occupied blocks namely Juniper and Oak and other six  upcoming bocks. It is possible that  BWSSB supplies a quantity of water which is inadequate for all the blocks .This will force us to depend on tanker water to a great extent and the present quality problem may persist.

I bring it to your kind notice so that you may direct your officials to make application for other blocks as well.

Regards

Hope springs eternal (especially in the Spring)

The dirty water in the flush saga continues. Listed below is an email request to the SS management from a senior resident (with attached photograph). Hoping this brings some desperately-needed relief to the residents...Stay tuned for updates (hopefully positive ones).

Dear [removed],

There are a number of mails addressed to the facility office regarding flush water, a photo taken today is for your information. This is a serious issue, may invite health related issues not only to residents but also to the plumbers committed to attend repairs to flush tanks. One does not want any reason for this bad water delivered but needs quick action from your end.
With the facility manager post is vacant, maintanace is going bad to worse. And we are supposed to have a premium community called greenage but in reality it is otherwise. Photo attached for your reference and to take action.

Does ditry water warrant legal action?

Listed below is an interesting email from a resident - pondering legal action against the builder for providing dirty water to the residents:

Is it not a criminal offense on the part of SS management to compel we residents to use such dirty water which may lead to many diseases . Even drinking water is not safe to be used . Shouldn't we make complaint to Collector Bangalore City , who may order an Enquary in these cases .

GOA may please take a view on this and I request GOA to take action on this line as well , because inspite of oue best persuasion , ss is not taking any step . Ultimately we the resindents are the biggest sufferer

I know a case in MP where the drinking water in a village was not fit for drinking and on complaint to collector by villagers , many responsible officials were suspended . If sorry to say villagers can get justice why we the literate persons are silent .

Sunday morning musings

Residents have been complaining about dirty water in the flush tanks for the past few days. Obviously the Water Treatment unit is not working. The rhetorical question in the below email sums up the frustration well:

No water in flush tank. No response from facility team. Where are we living ?

It is frustrating that residents of a community such as Greenage have to struggle for basic amenities like water. On one hand we are restricted by shared resources of community living and on the other hand, the resource managers are not interested in ensuring quality services - talk about Double Whammy!!!

On plumbers and electricians

I saw an email this morning on the community's mailing list asking why residents are relying on the SS (Salarpuria Sattva) management to provide services of electricians, plumbers ...etc.

The answer, provided by another resident, is that such services are included in the maintenance contract provided by the builder and touted as a big selling point for the apartments. So it is reasonable to rely on the builder for such services - as the maintenance cost (Rs. 0.45/sq.ft) covers such services.

Its not all bad

Sometimes, mind you, sometimes, the Facility team does get on email and respond .... Here is an email from the Facility team rep - in response to the water tank cleaning issue referenced earlier...

Dear Sir,

With reference to the below mail, The Tank Cleaning of Alpine/Birch Block regularly we are doing same day, Yesterday after tank cleaning Flush/Domestic pipe line got air lock, when they try for plumbers they were working in the PHE shaft area to relish the air lock in pipe lines, after that they came and attend a complaint of BA 1801.

Sorry for the Inconvenience, We will try to avoid this kind of problems next time onwards.

Another blog like this

While searching for Greenage on the Internet, I came across this blog (coincidentally, also on blogger):

http://life-at-salarputia-greenage.blogspot.com/2014/08/greenage-birds-eye-view_9.html

Not surprisingly, its the same theme as this blog... :(

Customer (dis)service

Here is another email - illustrating the resident's (senior citizen) frustration.

Dear Residents,

The facility team have recently developed a very nice habit of talking very sweetly with Residents but doing absolutely nothing. The entire team is having a nice time and happily spends 8 hours daily in Greenage Premises and goes home.

They happily get their salary from the money collected from all of us. But, they think that their salary comes from somewhere else and hence they believe that they need not serve and do ANYTHING to help Greenagians.

After several complaints about flushing cistern problem and an electrical switch, I personally met Mr. [removed] in facility office on 18th March 2015 at 4.00PM and asked him to send plumber and electrician. He promised me in very sweet words that he will send them immediately. He also confirmed from me about my availability at home. I said I will be available from this moment till 11.00 PM. Also I said I am available daily between 8AM and 11 PM (or 24 hours) as I am a retired person.

Today is 27th March. I am still waiting for plumber and electrician. They have not attended it so far and I am sure that they will never attend.

This is the kind of sheer, utter, blatant negligence and contempt they are showing towards Greenage Residents. It looks they might have been strictly instructed to show this kind of negligence, lethargy, apathy and contempt towards Residents.

(Mobile number of Mr [removed] whom we used to call for attending emergency problems during odd hours, says this number is out of service.).

I called local plumber and electrician from Bommanahalli and got my job done.

Best Regards,

Water Tank Cleaning Woes

Here is an email from a resident:

Hello Facility management,

It's 9.30PM now and we do not have water in flush tank. I went down few times checking for plumber and I was told they are busy cleaning the tank and will be available once free.

Tell me what I need to do. Wait till morning for water to come?  Why are you not having enough plumber support before getting into this kind of tasks? Is it the first time this kind of things happening? I almost face this issue each time a water tank gets cleaned and end up waiting past 10PM for plumber to come to clear clogs/debris.  I have also requested to take turns in choosing blocks, first Birch and then Alpine and flip next time. Was it even considered? Why should ONLY FEW RESIDENTS face this issue till late night? Am I not paying maintenance fee? If it is in morning, may be additional plumbers available, now that plumber will give every reason to escape and I have to put up this nonsense till morning.

Really it going from bad to worst. What bad things I have done to your highness that I have to chase plumber late nights.

Sucks.....

Author's Note

Due to my busy schedule, for the next few weeks, I will just post residents' gripes directly here (after scrubbing for personal information). Hopefully this will continue to give the reader an idea of the issues being faced.

New Residents Association

One of the challenges for the residents has been to have our residents' association be recognized by the builder. The link below is the communication to the builder's refusal to recognize the association - the original response from the Builder has been omitted to preserve the privacy of residents.

The document also gives a good view into the problems being faced by the residents.
